This weekend, a number of the staff here hopped over to Wisconsin for the wedding of two CursorMania employees. We didn’t know what to expect from America’s Dairyland except lots and lots of cheese (and cheesehead souvenirs, of course). We did a little reading before hand and compiled this handy fact sheet about all the yummy cheese that can be found in the Badger State.

  • There are 11,400 dairy farms in Wisconsin and 126 cheese plants.
  • Wisconsin produces 67% of America’s muenster cheese and 25% of our mozzarella.
  • Wisconsin is the first state to have a cheese grading system. Cheese is graded on color, appearance, texture and flavor.
  • Wisconsin cheesemakers produce more than 2 billion pounds of cheese every year.
  • Each year, the average American consumes more than 27 pounds of cheese, totaling up to nearly one ton in the average lifetime.
  • It takes about 10 p0unds of milk to make one pound of cheese.
  • A popular Wisconsin dish is cheese curds, which is young cheddar cheese before being processed into blocks and aged. You can find cheese curds at many bars and restaurants and they are commonly served deep fried. Yum!

As our readers know, we love to create new cursors that correspond to what’s happening in our office and around the world. Below, you’ll see our Swiss cheese cursor that you can download for free! Congrats to the happy couple and thanks for inviting us to the great cheese state!

After a bit of a tumultuous start due to the referee strike, the professional season is in full swing. Tonight’s game is between the St. Louis Rams and the Arizona Cardinals. Four weeks into the season and the Cards are one of only three undefeated teams remaining in the NFL. With the Cardinals defense and confidence, it looks like the Rams may have a tough night ahead of them. St. Louis hopes that their rookie first-round pick defensive tackle Michael Brockers, and running back Steven Jackson who has been complaining of a sore groin, can make an impact for the team this evening. Arizona has won seven straight games in St. Louis. However, the two teams combined for a 10-22 record in 2011 — not so hot.

As several CursorMania employees know, it can be tough cheering for a team that has a losing record. But some of the worst teams in the NFL still have diehard, born-and-raised fans. They will paint up for every game, tailgate like there’s no tomorrow, and even be caught waving one of those silly #1 fingers on national T.V. At CursorMania, we salute these men, women and children who support their team no matter what the scoreboard says. That’s why we’ve created a #1 finger cursor for you to download for free today!

After a long, hot summer the CursorMania team is welcoming the cooler weather with open arms. People have been talking excitedly about pulling out their fall sweaters, being able to open the windows to their house, and making all sorts of plans to be outside and enjoy the crisp temperatures. There are so many great things about fall: picking and carving the perfect pumpkin, jumping in piles of crisp leaves, and eating all the candy corn your heart desires. It’s funny that a lot of great things about fall include the color orange. So to celebrate the autumnal season, we’ve created a fantastic fall cursor for all our fans to enjoy. If orange isn’t your color though, don’t fret. This awesome cursor changes colors continuously, so it’s perfect for people who like blue, purple, green and red as well. Happy Fashion Week to our CursorMania readers! While everyone may not be familiar with this twice-yearly event, some of our stylish readers who follow designers or read fashion magazines surely know the importance of Fashion Week around the world.

New York is the first and longest-running of the four major Fashion Weeks, the others being Paris, London and Milan. When it started in 1943, it was called New York Press Week and was intended to draw attention away from French fashion during WWII. It was a huge success and allowed U.S. fashion magazines, newspapers, etc. to begin featuring American fashions alongside the French ones.

This year’s New York Fashion Week will run from Sept. 6-13 and will take place at the Lincon Center for the Performing Arts. Prior to 2010, Fashion Week and all the runway shows were held at Bryant Park. For those fashionistas who cannot be in New York during this time, technology is helping bring Fashion Week to the masses. On Twitter, individuals can follow along with the hashtag #NYFW; many fashion houses share sneak peaks on Instagram; and sites like Style.com often feature video clips from runway shows.

To show others your love of fashion or if you wish you were strutting your stuff on the runway, download this free fashion cursor for your mouse today!

As summer draws to a close, people around the we’re already missing weekend trips to the beach, fresh produce, and one of our all-time favorite summer occurrences: music festivals. CursorMania team members jetted around the country this summer to catch big name acts like Bruce Springsteen, Radiohead, Snoop Dog and more. Festivals are often synonymous with camping or spending long days outside, free stuff from music companies or partners, and some fashion choices that can be both inspiring or… awful. So in honor of our favorite summer activity, we’re counting down the top 10 music festivals in America!

  1. Bonnaroo | Manchester, TN
  2. Lollapalooza | Chicago, IL
  3. Coachella | Indio, CA
  4. Austin City Limits | Austin, TX
  5. Pitchfork | Chicago, IL
  6. JazzFest | New Orleans, LA
  7. Summerfest | Milwaukee, WI
  8. SXSW | Austin, TX
  9. Sasquatch | The Gorge, WA
  10. Wanderlust | Various Cities

One common thread ties all of these festivals together: peace, love and good music. So of course, we found the perfect mouse pointer to communicate our love of music festivals. If your computer needs a little peace and love, or you’re just feeling like a hippy today, download the free cursor from CursorMania today.

This week at CursorMania the entire office has been pretty down. We were very, very sad to say goodbye to the 2012 Olympic Games in London and have already begun the countdown to Rio in 2016. This year’s Olympics Games were full of heart-warming stories. Two that stood out the most were Oscar Pistorius, the South African sprinter who was the first double-leg amputee to participate in the Olympics, and Gabby Douglas, who became the first African American to win gold in the gymnastics all-around. If these two competitors don’t showcase the Olympic themes of hard work, perseverance and dedication, we’re not sure what does.

Despite the Games’ intention to have countries put aside their differences for two weeks, everyone loves a little competition. The United States, China, Russia, Great Britain and Germany left London with the most medals earned. In the top three it was the U.S. with 104 total medals won, China with 88 and Russia with 82. And did you know that 25 world records were set at this year’s Olympiad? Wow!

So while there are 1,449 days until the opening ceremony in Rio, we can still keep the Olympic spirit alive right? CursorMania has created a fun new cursor to remind you to always go for the gold! You can download it to your computer for free from our website.

With all the excitement about Olympic swimming and gymnastics, sports that aren’t widely popular in the United States sometimes tend to be overlooked. Take fencing for example — one of five sports that has been featured at every modern Olympic Games (along with athletics, cycling, swimming and gymnastics). Fencing is part of the combat sports family in which opponents use skill and strategy to outwit and out maneuver their competitor. The modern sport of fencing began in the 18th century during the Italian Renaissance. Different variations became popular in both Spain and France and these three countries continue to dominate the fencing scene.

During the Olympics, fencers use three different weapons: foil, epee and sabre. In foil and epee, points can only be scored when a fencer touches the other with the tip of the blade. In foil only the torso counts and in epee the entire body is fair game. In sabre, opponents may attack the entire upper body excluding the hands and points can be scored with the tip or side of the blade. In the 2012 Olympic Games in London the Italian women won gold for team foil and the Chinese women won team epee.

There’s lots that can be learned about Olympic fencing by searching the web. But perhaps you just want a fencing pointer for your computer to show that difficult document whose boss. Either way, you can download a sword cursor at CursorMania today!

One of the best parts about the summer is spending time at the beach. Whether it’s just a bike ride away or you have to travel by plane to reach the ocean, the long, lazy days of summer spent swimming and tanning and building sand castles make some of the best memories. Of course, no vacation spot comes without its hazards. At the beach you run the risk of getting sunburned, stepping on a crab or, the worst, getting stung by a jellyfish!

Jellyfish are the major non-polyp form of individuals of the phylum Cnidaria. They get around by using their umbrella top, or bell, as propulsion and use their stinging tentacles to capture prey…or just ruin your beach day. Jellyfish can be found in every ocean and sometimes even in fresh water. The most dangerous jellyfish is the Chironex fleckeri, more commonly known as the box jellyfish. It’s sting is excruciatingly painful and usually results in death! Another well known villain is the Portuguese Man O’ War, whose stings often induce fever, shock, and heart or lung problems!

Needless to say, we urge you to stay far away from jellyfish in the ocean. But we decided there was nothing wrong with having a jellyfish on your screen! We created this free jellyfish pointer that you can download from CursorMania and add to your computer screen. CursorMania also has tons of other ocean-themed cursors for you to choose from!
